SIAIS researchers and collaborators unveil structure and conformation change of the entire Mediator complex
On Feb. 11, the Lab of Structure Biochemistry at SIAIS published new findings in Molecular Cell, which describes, for the first time, the cryo-EM structure of the entire Mediator at a near-atomic resolution, and its conformation change before and after binding to RNA Pol II.

The SIAIS research team reveals a piRNA-independent mechanism of PIWI protein in gastric cancer
On August 26th, a team led by Professor Lin Haifan published new findings in PNAS. These findings reveal a new function and action mechanism of PIWI proteins in oncogenesis, guiding the identification of PIWI inhibitors to cure cancer.

The SIAIS Research Team Reveals the Heterogeneous Tumor Cells and Their Immune Microenvironment in Early-Stage Lung Adenocarcinomas
On November 3rd, 2020, a research led by Drs. Fan Guoping and Zhu Xianmin was published in Oncogene. The research revealed heterogeneity of early-stage LUAD tumor cells and immune microenvironment, and discovered new drug targets for the treatment of early-stage LUAD.

SIAIS Researchers Unveil Structural Basis of Trehalose Recycling by the ABC Transporter LpqY-SugABC
On Oct. 30, a research led by Prof. Rao Zihe was published in Science Advances. This work reported four cryo-electron microscopy structures of the mycobacterial LpqY-SugABC complex to reveal how it binds and passes trehalose through the membrane to the cytoplasm.

Noradrenergic Regulation of Pain by a Novel Type of the Spinal Cord Astrocytes
We discovered a novel type of astrocytes to regulate the pain: Noradrenergic stimulation aggravates the pain through the novel astrocyte opposite to the classical regulation suggesting a possible new therapeutics of pain by suppressing the novel type of astrocytes.
